This time a Polish artist of the younger generation who has won a firm position on the world market of art is the hero of a big monographic exhibition at the National Museum in Cracow. It is Marcin Maciejowski, a painter and graphic artist.
His works have been exhibited at, among other galleries, Gallerie Meyer Kainer in Vienna, Gallery Raster in Warsaw, Gallery Leo Konig in New York, Marc Fox Gallery in Los Angeles or Cracow`s Zderzak Gallery. The exhibition opened at the National Museum on March 29 will be the first museum presentation of his works. The artist is emotionally attached to Cracow. It is where he studied architecture and graphics at the Fine Arts College. He made his debut as a student and together with, among other colleagues, Rafał Bujnowski and Wilhelm Sasnal he created a group called ‘Ładnie’. He also prepared illustrations for the press.
In his works he uses contemporary language to present his own version of realistic and historical painting. The monthly ‘Polityka’ has awarded him for the ‘perceptiveness, wit and inventive application of advertisement stylistics for the description of emotions of our times’. The exhibition at the National Museum will present 100 of his paintings from museum and private collections in Great Britain, Germany and Austria and some works prepared especially for this exposition. Tym razem bohaterem dużej monograficznej wystawy w krakowskim Muzeum Narodowym będzie polski artysta młodszego pokolenia, który jednak zdobył już znaczącą pozycję na światowym rynku sztuki. To Marcin Maciejowski, malarz i grafik.
Swe prace wystawiał już indywidualnie m.in. w Galerie Meyer Kainer w Wiedniu, warszawskiej Galerii Raster, Gallery Leo Konig w Nowym Jorku czy Marc Fox Gallery w Los Angeles czy w krakowskiej galerii Zderzak. Otwierana 26 marca w Muzeum Narodowym wystawa będzie pierwszą muzealną prezentacją jego prac. Artysta jest związany z Krakowem. Tu studiował architekturę, a w Akademii Sztuk Pięknych grafikę. Debiutował jako student, przez pięć lat razem m.in. z Rafałem Bujnowski i Wilhelmem Sasnalem tworzył grupę Ładnie. Zajmował się również przygotowaniem ilustracji do prasy.
W swoich pracach używa współczesnego języka do pokazania własnej wersji malarstwa realistycznego i historycznego. Tygodnik “Polityka” nagrodził go za „spostrzegawczość i dowcip oraz nowatorskie wykorzystanie stylistyki reklamy do opisu emocji naszych czasów”. W Muzeum Narodowym będzie można zobaczyć setkę jego obrazów z kolekcji muzealnych i prywatnych w Wielkiej Brytanii, Niemczech i Austrii, a także prace przygotowane specjalnie na tę ekspozycję.
