The organisers of this year`s edition of the Sacrum Profanum Festival (September 14-21) in Cracow made the Kraftwerk band the main star. This cult German band , which was created by Florian Schneider and Ralph Hutter in 1970, is known for its discoveries in the field of experimental, synthetic sounds. The group, which is regarded as, among other groups, the pioneers of techno will give three concerts (September 19-21) in the hall of the steelworks in Cracow, which belongs to the Arcelor Mittal Poland.
The Sacrum Profanum Festival is organised for the sixth time and it has gained the reputation of one of the most significant cultural events in Cracow, which attract to the city guests from all over Poland and Europe. The presentation of the music of the 20th century around the axis created by the motifs of the sacrum and the profanum is the focal idea of the festival. A graphic criterion is also taken into consideration. Therefore, consecutive editions of the festival have been devote to the music of Vienna, France, Russia, and the U.S.A. After the ‘American’ edition it was absolutely obvious that the festival turned in the direction of contemporary and vanguard music.
This year`s edition, entirely devoted to German music, is considered the biggest in Europe presentation of the German modern repertoire. The festival will be inaugurated by Ute Lemper, the artist recognised for her interpretations of the interwar German song in the repertoire of Kurt Weill. The Musik Fabrik from Koln, which will perform a monographic concert devoted to the life and works of Wolfgang Rihm, will be another star of the 6th Sacrum Profanum Festival. The Klangforum Wien, one of the most famous in the world formations of contemporary music, will present in Cracow (September 16) the Polish premiere of the Concertini of Helmut Lachenmann from 2005. The music of Karlheinz Stockhausen will be presented by Asko Schonberg, the legendary formation of the Ensemble Modern from Frankfurt and two world famous bands the London Sinfonieta and the Theatre of Voices.
The concerts will be played in mainly post-industrial interiors: in the mentioned steelworks, Oskar Schindler`s former factory, and the Museum of Municipal Engineering. The festival is organised by Cracow Festival Office.

Główną, a w każdym razie najbardziej znaną gwiazdą tegorocznej edycji  (14-21 września) krakowskiego Festiwalu Sacrum Profanum organizatorzy  uczynili zespół Kraftwerk. Ten kultowy zespół niemiecki, założony w 1970 roku przez  Floriana Schneidera i Ralfa Hüttera, znany ze swoich odkryć na polu  eksperymentalnych syntetycznych brzmień, uznawany za pioniera m.in. nurtu  techno wystąpi z trzema koncertami (19-21 września), które odbędą się w wielkiej hali ocynkowni chemicznej  krakowskiej huty stali należącej do  Arcelor Mittal Poland.
Festiwal Sacrum Profanum organizowany jest już po raz szósty i zdobył  opinię jednego z najważniejszych wydarzeń kulturalnych Krakowa, które  przyciąga do miasta wielu widzów z całego kraju i Europy. Ideą imprezy jest prezentacja muzyki XX wieku wokół osi, jaką tworzą  przecinające się motywy sacrum i profanum. Uwzględniane jest również  kryterium geograficzne. Dlatego kolejne edycje festiwalu poświęcane były  muzyce Wiednia, Francji, Rosji i USA. Po “amerykańskiej” edycji było widać  już wyraźnie, że festiwal przeszedł zwrot w kierunku muzyki współczesnej i awangardowej.
Tegoroczna, poświęcona muzyce Niemiec, edycja uważana jest za największą w Europie prezentację niemieckiego repertuaru współczesnego. Festiwal zainauguruje występ Ute Lemper, artystki cenionej za interpretacje  miedzywojennej niemieckiej piosenki kabaretowej w repertuarze Kurta  Weilla. Kolejną gwiazdą 6. Festiwalu Sacrum Profanum będzie formacja MusikFabrik z Kolonii, która wykona monograficzny koncert poświęcony twórczości Wolfganga  Rihma. Jedna z najsłynniejszych na świecie formacji muzyki współczesnej –  Klangforum Wien przedstawi w Krakowie (16 września) polską premierę  powstałych w 2005 roku Concertini Helmuta Lachenmanna. Muzykę Karlheinza  Stockhausena zaprezentują Asko Schönberg, legendarna formacja Ensemble  Modern z Frankfurtu oraz dwa światowej sławy zespoły – London Sinfonietta i Theatre of Voices.
Koncerty będą odbywały się głównie w postindustrialnych wnętrzach: we  wspomnianej hali huty oraz Fabryce Oskara Schindlera, oraz w Muzeum  Inżynierii Miejskiej. Festiwal organizuje Krakowskie Biuro Festiwalowe.

Zum wichtigsten, allerdings auch bekanntesten Star haben die Veranstalter des diesjährigen Krakauer Festivals Sacrum Profanum  (14.-21. August) das Ensemble Kraftwerk erwählt. Diese deutsche Kultgruppe, bekannt durch ihre Entdeckungen auf dem Gebiet der experimentellen synthetischen Musik, tritt mit drei Konzerten (19.-21. September) auf.
Das Festival Sacrum Profanum wird bereits zum sechsten Mal veranstaltet und genießt den Ruf eines der wichtigsten Kulturereignisse Krakaus. Die Idee der Veranstaltung ist die Vorführung der Musik des 20. Jh. gewissermaßen um die Achse, die durch die sich überschneidenden Motive Sacrum und Profanum gebildet wird. Bisherige Festivals wurden der Musik Wiens, Frankreichs, Russlands und der USA gewidmet. Dieses Jahr wird die Musik Deutschlands in den Vordergrund gestellt und das Krakauer Festival wird als größte Präsentation des gegenwärtigen deutschen Repertoires in Europa angesehen.
