What is available for small children when they start showing the evident signs of boredom while visiting even the most beautiful monuments in Cracow? In fact there are a number of ways to entertain them in way which will provide lots of fun for everyone. The first thing to do is to take the children to the Wawel Dragon’s Den (Smocza Jama), a cave the entrance to which is near the Thieves Tower (Baszta Złodziejska) in the Royal Castle on Wawel Hill. It is where the legendary monster that terrorised Cracow is believed to have lived. Legend has it that the dragon was killed by a poor cobbler’s apprentice. Near the exit to the cave there is a metal sculpture of this dangerous dragon, and to make the monster breathe fire it is enough to write ‘SMOK’ in a text message and send it to the number 7168. Alternatively, the famous Salt Mine in Wieliczka also has much to offer to adults, but especially to children. There is a special programme for families with children called ‘Discovering Saltlandia’ (Odkrywając Solilandię), which includes a fairy-tale land hidden within the mine. Children and their parents meet the Treasurer (Skarbnik), who is the ghost of Wieliczka’s Salt Mine, as they follow the trail and they additionally learn about the stories connected with the salt mine and are introduced to various salt statues (soliludki). Another great attraction is a miniature park in Inwałd on the way to Wadowice (John Paul II`s birthplace) when driving from Cracow. In the park there are 50 models of the most famous buildings in the world and, naturally, a funfair, with the children also able to take part in many entertaining programmes. Finally, Zator to the west of Cracow, is a large, and still developing, park with mobile models of dinosaurs. (b)

Metoda do zastosowania natychmiastowego to zabranie pociech do Smoczej Jamy, czyli jaskini, do której wejście znajduje się obok Baszty Złodziejskiej Zamku Królewskiego na Wawelu. To w tej jaskini mieszkał legendarny potwór, który terroryzował Kraków, a pokonany został przez pewnego sprytnego szewczyka. U wylotu jaskini nad brzegiem Wisły znajduje się rzeźba przedstawiająca owego groźnego smoka. Wystarczy wysłać sms o treści: „SMOK” na numer 7168, by ów zwierz zionął ogniem. O dzieciach pomyślała również słynna Kopalnia Soli w Wieliczce. Tam przygotowano specjalny program dla rodzin nazwany “Odkrywamy Solilandię”. To podziemna baśniowa kraina skryta w podziemiach kopalni. Dzieci razem z rodzicami poznają podczas wędrówki, na której trasie spotykają Skarbnika, czyli ducha wielickiej saliny, poznają baśnie związane z kopalnią i mogą zapoznać się z soliludkami. W drodze z Krakowa do Wadowic, czyli miejsca urodzenia papieża Jana Pawła II dużą atrakcją jest położony w miejscowości Inwałd park miniatur. Znajduje się tam 50 modeli najsłynniejszych budowli świata, oraz oczywiście lunapark, a dla dzieci przygotowano specjalne programy rozrywkowe. Z kolei w miejscowości Zator położonej na zachód od Krakowa znajduje się stale rozbudowywany duży park z ruchomymi modelami dinozaurów.
